  Great idea. Yep, Sunlight has APIs. http://services.sunlightlabs.com/ The one you'd want to use here is TransparencyData.

  Take a look at Poligraft and Inbox Influence which do similar things with news articles and e-mails. http://inbox.influenceexplorer.com/ http://poligraft.com/
